Project Overview: We recently completed a comprehensive bathroom remodel in Davis, CA, designed to enhance safety and independence for an elderly homeowner. The primary goal was to transform a hazardous traditional bathtub layout into a modern, accessible space without sacrificing style.
The Challenge: The existing bathroom featured a standard bathtub and shower curtain setup, which presented a high-step barrier and a significant fall risk. Our client needed a solution that would eliminate these obstacles and make showering safe and effortless.
The Solution: We mitigated safety concerns by converting the space into a spacious, low-profile walk-in shower. By utilizing a Castico composite stone shower pan, we achieved a near-zero threshold entry. This innovative product offers the accessibility of a curbless shower without the extensive cost and labor of recessing the subfloor.
Key Features & Finishes:
- Surfaces: We installed elegant Milano Beige Quartz for both the shower walls and the vanity countertop. This material offers a seamless, grout-free look that is beautiful and easy to maintain.
- Flooring: The old floor was replaced with waterproof Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP), providing a durable, slip-resistant surface that adds warmth to the room.
- Safety & Comfort: To further support aging in place, we installed strategically placed grab bars and additional shelving for easy reach.
- Ventilation: A new high-efficiency exhaust fan with a built-in heater was added to ensure the room stays warm and moisture-free.
